Texas police spike-stripped the path of a Chevrolet 4x4 they were aprehending and this was the second tyre to come away. eBay went spare when they saw the ad, but it has since been changed with the seller treading more carefully. (Have we missed any tyre-related puns?)

Item description:

Up for auction - Original truck tire from the White Chevrolet Extended Cab 4x4 that was involved in one of the Longest Police Chases, on Friday July 21, 2006. The chase was approximately 2 hours and the SWAT stand-off was approximately 90 minutes. This was the #2 tire to come off the vehicle following the spike strips. This is the front passenger side LT 285 / 75R16, this tire came off as the truck went under Beltway 8 and Fairmont, the wrong way in the east bound u-turn. The truck went up the concrete embankment and the tire rolled off the rim. The truck proceeded to cut through the grass and ended up in the culvert. Police have confirmed to us that this tire is eligible for private sale.

Interestingly enough, this tire is a Uniroyal "Liberator". It did not liberate this driver. This tire is not functional! Unless you plan on using it as a really bad tire swing (I would not even recommend that). It has more holes in it than just the two where the rim goes and half the tread is missing.

The original listing was removed by Ebay pertaining to Specific Ad Language/Verbage Policies regarding donations. We will NOT personally profit from this sale, watch the news. We are trying to follow the guidelines of EBAY. We have heard from several of you and we are resuming bidding @ $25.00

We appreciate your positive comments and continued encouragment regarding our local law enforcement. Thank you for your support.
