William Burroughs' Cabin

*****

This somewhat ramshackle former residence of the celebrated American writer is up for grabs on eBay. It includes an outside shower and incinerating(!) toilet. We know that's where a lot of authors get their ideas so it might explain why his were so vivid. Click here for the eBay listing

World Cup Tickets

New UK legislation introduced on Monday make it illegal for an unlicensed vendor to sell tickets for any match in the tournament. eBay have banned all ads for such on their British site, but the law doesn't cover other parts of the world so we foresee American listings for World Cup 2006 tickets on eBay.com thriving.

Going, Going, Gein

***

Those pyschos at eBay seem to have removed the listing of the farm belonging Ed Gein, the serial killer who inspired the notorious Hitchcock film and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. For your gruesome pleasure, we have archived the original listing here

Bored of your Rings?

On April 4th 2006, The Chicago White Sox presented the first 20,000 fans attending the game with these World Series replica rings. At the time of writing over 200 are up on eBay. That's more than 1%. See, our sport reports might be rubbish but our math is HOT (Budding sports associates please apply via the contact page...)

Desperate Fiancée

That nice lady Nicollette Sheridan who plays Edie Britt in Desperate Housewives is flogging her old engagement ring. Singer Nikolaas Soderblom gave it to Nicollette in the 90's but now she's got a new one off Michael Bolton. (Probably best if we leave all the celebrity stuff to "Hello" and that).

Town in a State

The winning bidder backed out of buying Bridgeville, California when it was first auctioned in 2002 due to the poor condition of the town. The current vendor says that it's been done up a bit, but potentially you could be spending a lot of Sundays DIYing.

Shelling Out

We think the "Jesus Shell" bears a striking resemblance to a mushed up piece of hobby clay, but it could just be the photo. Click on the link to judge for yourself but beware the slightly unholy starting price of $25,000.

Dinar Money

Buying Iraqi Dinars is the latest "surefire" get rich quick scheme. Sadly, The Central Bank of Iraq's is not promoting the free trade of IQD so the only place you can get them is... guess where! One Dinar comes in at just under $0.0007, so a great investment if they ever return to their 1991 value of $3 each. If its just wallpaper you're after, we recommend Irani Rials at $0.0001.

****

An Enigma Codemaking Device built in 1941 used to scramble messages during World War II fetched over 55,000 Euros (nearly $67,000). We are keen to hear from the winner so we can use it to work out what our headline means.

Bus-ted

****

"Only 147,797 miles on the clock" boast the New Orleans School District on the listing for this 1993 School Bus. Ooo, did we mention that it was submerged in water for at least 10 days following Hurricane Katrina? Erm, well, yes. In fact they state it quite clearly, but where's the fun in that? Let the buyer beware.
